Garrett Robinson has spent twenty years as one of Australia's most active location managers. In 2025, Hoonigan brought Gymkhana: Aussie Shred to the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and Garrett led the location scouting across both cities. He assessed the M1 corridor, the beach strip, Surfers Paradise and the surrounding precincts for Travis Pastrana's stunt sequences. That is the level of Gold Coast knowledge he brings to every brief.

Yes. Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) requires film permits for commercial shoots on public beaches, parks and roads. The Film Friendly Gold Coast program has streamlined the process for smaller productions. Lamington and Springbrook national parks are managed separately by the Queensland Department of Environment and Science. We handle all permit categories as standard.
Village Roadshow Studios (VRS) at Oxenford is a major studio facility with sound stages up to 2,800sqm. They work with both major studio productions and independent shoots. If your production needs stage space on the Gold Coast, we can facilitate the introductions and help plan around studio scheduling.
The beach strip from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta is the obvious answer, but the Gold Coast's hinterland is the less obvious one. Lamington National Park and Springbrook sit 40 minutes inland: UNESCO World Heritage rainforest, ancient volcanic formations, and waterfalls that have appeared in countless productions. The M1 Pacific Motorway corridor and the Gold Coast's waterways and canals add further options unavailable in most Australian cities.
For TVCs and branded content, 4 to 6 weeks is comfortable. For features and high-end TV, 8 to 12 weeks allows for proper scouting, GCCC permit applications, and national parks approvals if needed. Lamington permits in particular need lead time. We have turned around fast-track Gold Coast shoots with under a week's notice when required.
Yes. The cities are 70km apart on the M1. Many productions shoot Brisbane and Gold Coast in the same trip, using Gold Coast accommodation as a base. We treat both markets as a single QLD brief and plan the route efficiently.
A Gold Coast film fixer typically charges between $800 and $2,500 AUD per day, depending on project scope and services required. Third-party costs (crew, permits, equipment) are charged separately on a transparent cost-plus basis.
Yes. Lamington National Park, Springbrook, the Scenic Rim and the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. These locations require Queensland Parks and Wildlife permits, 4WD access planning, and in some cases emergency management coordination. We have the contacts and have done this kind of remote location work before.
